Chester Picks Up First Win Against Sparta

The Chester Yellow Jackets won their first game of the season with a come-from-behind 11-9 win over Sparta. The Jackets scored three runs in the top of the seventh to erase a 9-8 deficit.

Jaden Mott had two hits and three RBIs and Camdyn Shemonic had three hits and an RBI. Brendan Baughman, Ethan Stumpe and Nate Heffernan each had two hits and an RBI. Hayden Gendron, Marcus Murphy and Matt James each had a hit and an RBI. Cooper Eggemeyer had a hit.

Steeleville scored two runs in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie and defeat Chester 3-1 on May 5. Stumpe had two hits and Kaden Freytag one hit. Baughman started and held the Warriors to one run and three hits over four innings.

The Jackets lost to Gibault 15-5 on May 10.

Eggemeyer, Baughman, Shemonic and Blake Huffman each had a hit and an RBI. Matt James and Stumpe also had hits.

Chester lost to Marissa-Coulterville 9-5 on April 22.

Freytag and Aron Korando each had two hits and an RBI. Huffman had a hit and an RBI. Ryan Whitley, Hayden Roth and Mott each had hits.

Freytag and Aron Korando had hits in an 18-0 loss to Du Quoin on April 13.

Chester lost a doubleheader to Goreville on April 26. Gendron had two hits and Mott had a hit and two RBIs in a 6-2 loss. Stumpe had a hit and an RBI in a 15-1 loss. Whitley, Huffman, Freytag and Mott also had hits.

Chester lost to Nashville 15-4 on April 27. Shemonic, Freytag and Ethan Korando each had a hit and an RBI. Heffernan had a hit and Eggemeyer drove in a run.
