Short-handed Chester Goes 1-4 In Red Bud Tourney

The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets opened play in the Red Bud Ladies Christmas Basketball Tournament with a forfeit loss to Waterloo.

In the consolation bracket, the Lady Jackets suffered a 46-45 overtime loss to Roxanna on Dec. 28.

Alyssa Seymour led Chester’s depleted roster with 24 points. Rylie Conley was also in double figures with 11 points. Jazzi Merideth scored five points, Camrynn Howie three and Emma Diskey two.

Later that day, Chester lost to Red Bud 49-31. Howie and Conley led Chester with nine points each. Merideth tallied eight points and Seymour five.’

Chester got some reinforcements to post a 48-29 win Dec. 29 over East Alton-Wood River. Seymour led Chester with 21 points and Howie was also in double figures with 11 points. Coney and Kailyn Absher, returning to the line-up, had six points each. Merideth and Diskey scored two points each.

Chester ended tournament play with a 49-27 loss to Belleville Althoff.

Seymour led Chester with nine points. Absher tallied eight points, Howie six, Conley three and Merideth one.
