Chester defeated Lovejoy in the first round of the CIT.

The Chester Yellow Jackets defeated New Athens 69-67 Jan. 15 in the third place game of the Chester Invitational Tournament (CIT).

Jared Landeros, who earned all-tournament honors, led Chester with 27 points. Trace Fricke was also in double digits with 18 points. Gavin Schroeder scored nine points, Lucas Thompson six points, Chance Mott five points and Devante Palacio two points.

Gibault won the title after defeating Saxony Lutheran 50-43.

Chester posted a 51-47 win over Lovejoy in the opening round of the Chester Invitational Tournament on Jan. 11.

Jared Landeros led Chester with 31 points. Cooper Eggemeyer added seven points and Chance Mott four. Ethan Stumpe scored four points, Lucas Thompson three and Trace Fricke one.

Chester lost to Saxony Lutheran 52-38 Jan. 13 in a semi-final game.

Landeros led Chester with 16 points. Mott scored six points and Eggemeyer and Palacio netted four points each. Stumpe and Thompson each had three points and Fricke two points.
