Boys Second, Girls Third At Home Track Meet

The Chester High School boys’ track team took second and the girls third at a meet March 29 in Chester.

The boys scored 117 points, trailing only Nashville with 150 points. Eight team competed at the meet. The girls tallied 64 points, finishing behind Nashville with 209 and Murphysboro with 132.  There were seven teams in the girls’ meet.
For the boys, Aiden Jany won the 100 and 400 and took second in the 200.  Jacob Cowell captured the pole vault and triple jump, placed fourth in the 300 hurdles and took fifth in the long jump. Isaac Jany won the shot put, took third in the long jump and finished fifth in the discus.

Lannin Caron was third in the pole vault and fourth in the triple jump. Jacob Handel was fourth in the 800. Will Schuwerk was fourth in the 200 and sixth in the 100. Cooper Eggemeyer was fifth in the high jump. Eggemeyer also took fourth in the triple jump.

Garret Hopkins was sixth in the 400 and Blake Farmer sixth in the 1600.

The 4×400 and 4×800 relays took second and the 4×100 relay fourth.

For the girls, Mabry Wingerter was second in the high jump and sixth in the long jump. Jazzi Merideth was third in the long jump.

Camrynn Howie was third in the 200 and sixth in the 100, Gianna Eggemeyer was third in the long jump and took fifths in the 200 and 400.

Paige Vasquez was third in the triple jump and sixth in the 200.

Briley Miles was sixth in the discus.

The 4×200 relay placed second, the 4×100 third, the 4×800 relay fourth and the 4×400 sixth.

Both Chester track teams placed third at a coed meet on March 17 at Murphysboro.

For the boys, Aiden Jany won the 100 and 400 and Jacob Cowell captured the pole vault. Cowell also placed third in the 300 hurdles.

Finishing second for Chester were Jacob Handel in the 800, Will Schuwerk in the 200 and Cooper Eggemeyer in the high jump. Eggemeyer also took fourth in the triple jump.

The 4×400 relay took third and the 4×100 relay fourth.

For the girls, Hannah Blechle won the pole vault and Jazzi Merideth the 100 hurdles. The 4×200 relay of Blechle, Gianna Eggemeyer and Kailyn Absher also took first.

Paige Vasquez was second in the triple jump, fourth in the 100 and tied for third in the long jump.

Briley Miles was second in the discus. Maleia Absher took third in the 300 hurdles and Mabry Wingerter tied for third in the high jump. Wingerter also took fifth in the long jump.

Kailyn Absher was fourth in the shot put and Bethany Baughman was fourth in the 400. Maria Nickle was sixth in the 1600.

The 4×400 relay placed second and the 4×800 relay fourth.
