Southern Illinois University hosted Saluki Con 2023 on April 22-23 from 10am to 5pm at the SIU Student Center in Carbondale. SIU students entered free; single-day passes and weekend passes were admitted online and at the door. Three CHS students, Julia Venus, Kerringtyn Malley, and Chelsea August, attended. Julia dressed as Randy Marsh from South Park and Kerringtyn dressed as Joseph Joestar from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. The convention originally began as Eclipse Con in 2017, and the name will become Eclipse Con again when they expand in 2024.

There were many things to do, including the vendor fair, fantasy language creation, Harry Potter trivia, Nexu Clan Mandalorian panel, Criminology virtual reality, chess tournaments, a cosplay contest and many other events. There were also a few special guests that were made up mostly of comic book writers and illustrators.
