Brodie Mattingly is part of the Tabletop Gaming Club here at CHS. He is a 14-year-old DM (or Dungeon Master) for the game Dungeons and Dragons.
“Dungeons and Dragons is like a choose-your-own-adventure book, except the book is being written by your best friend, and you’re rolling more dice than you normally would,” says Brodie. In other words, it is a tabletop adventure game where the Dungeon Master creates scenarios for the players to interact with. His party consists of Lexi Davis, Jack Kennedy, Mason Ward, Timothy Ward, and TJ Lyons. Each character has a unique role to play in the team, and they work together to progress the story of the campaign. From half-demon wizards to dwarven barbarians, each person has a great time playing as their character.
We asked Brodie to describe his most recent session of D&D. Here’s what he had to say:
“I took inspiration from old myths, like the Greeks or Romans, so I wanted to do a story where each god represented a different thing. I had the goddess of balance order the party to kill a demigod who had been meddling with her plans, her plans being to end the war between the god of Chaos and the goddess of Order. If you want to know more, you can always ask me directly. I’d be happy to talk about it.”

Is it me, or does this remind you of Emperor Palpatine?
