TJ Lyons is a passionate Senior player for the CHS E-Sports team. He joined E-sports because it has been, “part of my life for years on end. Not only do they bring me a lot of comfort in my life, they make me strive for excellence. I’m very competitive.”

He also stated, “Fun? What’s fun? In all seriousness though, we’re pretty competitive and I enjoy having people to get better against.”

The team plays competitive video games against other teams in schools across Illinois. He has played League of Legends and Pokemon Unite for the team. He said, “It’s hard to define because E-Sports is just kind of random; you don’t .. understand what’s going on until you know you’re already in the middle of the ‘action’. The best way to describe it is… chaotic.” Lyons’s favorite game he has played is, “the Yakuza series. I like fighting games. I like good stories, and Yakuza has both, along with good music.”

One of the last questions asked was, “If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, what would you play?”. He responded, “That is .. an incredibly hard question. I’d probably say Risk of Rain 2. It’s a great game. Every run feels unique. There’s always something to do in that game.”
