Senior Brooklyn Webb got her poem named “Socks” published in TeenInk on December 8, 2023. During an interview with Brook, she stated she has been writing poetry since she was little and her favorite poet is Robert Frost.
When asked about what inspired her to write the poem she said “I’m in the creative writing class with Ms. Hodge, and she has us write poems every day. Since there was no prompt, I wanted to write about something special to me.”
Her published poem was about her cat named Socks. She watched his birth almost a year ago, and Brook knew she wanted him because he was the runt. Brooklyn’s favorite memory with Socks is when he watches her favorite show with her.
A lot of the poems she writes for creative writing are about socks and she will continue to write more about him. Brook was asked if she planned on getting any more poems published and she stated, “I was doing this for a grade I didn’t expect to be published, but maybe I will get one published again in the future.”
