CHS celebrated one of our teachers battling health concerns.
Ms. Bartley has spent the last 4 years with us teaching mathematics. She came out of retirement in Missouri to help out Chester’s students at a time when the pandemic had taken its toll and math educators were in short supply. She has tirelessly worked through all types of conditions and holds herself and her students to high standards.
Ms. B is fighting Myeloma Cancer. This is a cancer that is attacking her white blood cells and making them grow to the point they crowd out the other cells. About 10 years ago, this disease was super rare. Right now, it is not as rare, but still not many people have it. Doctors and scientists as slowly improved the treatment, as time has gone on. They have improved many aspects of the treatment to expand the life expectancy of the cancer.
The school held a surprise assembly wishing her well as she entered the next step of her journey. Throughout the year she has consistently put her students first and worked diligently to assure that they are now and will continue to be cared for and educated to the standards she upholds. Students and faculty provided notes and statements of appreciation and well wishes, looking forward to success and return to us.
CHS will be selling Multiple Myeloma Awareness Merch supporting Ms. B’s battle and proceeds from the sale will go to offset her medical expenses. The order forms are available in the CHS and CGS offices as well as a printable form in this post.
