The three basketball seniors were presented for their dedication and commitment towards basketball, on February 13 in the CHS Colbert gymnasium. The three Boy’s basketball seniors are Lucas Thompson, Korbin Jany, and Shea Menefee.
Lucas Thompson said he’s been playing basketball for ten years. When asked why he joined basketball he said,” It seemed like one of the sports you need to try at a young age.” Thompson’s main position is forward. His favorite memory is the, “Two game winners against Red Bud my sophomore year on JV.” Thompson plans to play golf at McKendree University and major in Cybersecurity.
Korbin Jany has been playing basketball since fifth grade at the Chester grade school. He joined because,” I enjoy playing basketball.” Jany’s position in basketball is shooting guard. He was asked what his favorite memory was from playing basketball, he replied,” The atmosphere of the home games. The band, student section, and lights out. There’s no other town that has that!” Jany plans to go to SWIC to study engineering and after that, he plans to transfer to SIUC.
Shea Menefee has been playing basketball since little league, in third grade. When asked why he joined basketball, he replied,”I wanted to be better than my dad.” Menefee plays the position of shooting guard/center. When he was asked what his favorite memory from basketball was, he said,” First in the game to dunk sophomore year.” After high school, Shea Menefee plans to go to a welding college or join the national guard mechanics.
All three of these basketball seniors have done their best during their basketball careers and have dedicated themselves in their time at the Chester community school districts, congratulations on having a great season, CHS wishes you three well in the future!
