CHS Sound Affect preforming Comin Alive at state Organization Contest.

The CHS Music Department took 50 events to the IHSA Solo and Ensemble contest on March 2nd at Carbondale Community High School. The music department is placed 6th in Class B with 276 points total.

Students prepared a total of 50 entries that consisted of vocal solos, vocal ensembles, instrumental solos, and instrumental ensembles. 42 entries were counted as I’s, and 8 as II’s.

This was a very successful year at IHSA Solo and Ensemble for the CHS Music Department even though the department numbers dropped compared to previous years.

In addition, they took 4 ensembles to Organization Contest on April 12th. This included CHS Concert Band and Choir, Jazz Band, and Swing Choir. Both bands got 1 (Superiors) and both choirs got 2 (Excellent). The music department ended 5th place in Class B out of 85 schools with 501 points.
