Members of Senora Zeiger’s Spanish classes participated in fun activities celebrating foreign languages during the week of March 4 through March 8.
“Foreign Language Week is always the first full week of March. I have been celebrating this week with my students since the 1990’s. It is a week to celebrate the study of languages and cultures.” Senora said, “I wanted to do this to allow my students to do something different from our normal routine and to have some fun.”
Some of the activities the kids did were researching a Spanish-speaking person or country, a Spanish scholar bowl competition, choosing a recipe, preparing it and sharing it with the class, and wearing a clothing item that has a Spanish word or saying. Students also earned extra credit when doing various activities.
Senora was asked how she came up with these ideas. She answered, “These activities are ideas that I got from other Spanish teachers in the area or came up with on my own.”
Senora Zeiger and her classes had a lot of fun participating in these fun activities to celebrate foreign languages around the world. I enjoyed my Spanish 1 class, I hoped all the students did and highly encouraged to take one of Senora’s classes.
