The staff at Chester High and Grade School attended blood control training at the High school on March 22nd. Memorial Hospital provided the materials for this.
During this exercise, the staff was shown different ways to stop wounds from bleeding. There was a video portion and a hands-on portion where the staff was demonstrated various ways to apply a tourniquet and how to stuff a wound. The hospital personnel also demonstrated how to use miscellaneous objects in their classroom in an emergency.
Memorial Hospital also donated 110 Blood Control Kits. 61 went to the grade school with the high school receiving 50. In the kits are different items needed to help control if a person is bleeding such as 4 packages of gauze, 2 pairs of gloves, 2 tourniquets, 1 roll of tape, and 1 black marker.
