Let’s Have a Christmas Celebration
December 11, 2018
The CHS Band, Concert Choir, and Sound Affect had their annual Christmas concert on Monday, December 10th. The Concert Choir started off the night with four selections that showed true Christmas spirit. Their first piece was It’s So Still In Bethlehem arr. Ruth Elaine Schram. They then followed with Noel Peace Canon also arr. by Ruth Elaine Schram. Mary, Did You Know, arr. Tom Fettke and Winter Wonderland arr. Roger Emerson rounded out the selection for the Concert Choir.
The Band was next up; their first piece was A Solitary Wish arr. Brian Balmages. This piece was meant to show the true meaning of Christmas and to show the true meaning of helping others. They then followed with A Glorious Christmas arr. Larry Neeck. The Band rounded out their selection with a fan favorite, Sleigh Ride arr. Leroy Anderson.
After the Band performance, the Music Department had a collection to donate money to the local food pantry. In total, the crowd raised $733.48. The crowd came together to collect this money to help local people who need it. It’s a tradition that the music department hopes will continue for many years to come.
The CHS Sound Affect rounded out the concert with their selection of music. Let’s Have A Christmas Celebration arr. David T. Clydesdale started the night for the Sound Effect. Their next piece Christmas TIme Is Here arr. Steve Zegree was the ballad piece for the show choir. They continued with Man With The Bag arr. Roger Emerson and finished the night with Underneath the Tree arr. Ed Lojeski.
Mr. Colonel exclaimed,“I am very proud of the performance that my students had. They worked very hard over this semester, and I’m hoping, along with them, that we have large success coming in the spring.”
