Kicking off on Thursday August 15, the Yellow Jackets Boys Golf team hosted the 2nd Annual Randolph County Cup. Along with the Jackets, Sparta, Steeleville, and Red Bud were also competing for the cup. The front nine was played with no problems, but the back nine holes were quickly interrupted by the sounds of thunder and were postponed to Wednesday September 4 because of weather concerns.
Starting the back nine up again, Chester and Red Bud were tied, both having 2.5 points, Steeleville trailing with 1 point and Sparta with 0. The scores of both the front and back nine were added together for the final score. After being counted, the scores were Chester with 6.5 points, Red Bud with 5.5, Steeleville with 3, and Sparta with 2. Chester, winning first place for the second year in a row, managed to keep the county cup right here in Chester.
