The Yellow Jackets continued their momentum by defeating the Pinckneyville Panthers on Friday September 6th 2024. Everything went the Jackets way to start the game and that success continued throughout the entire game.
At halftime, the score was 37-0. The Panthers started the second half by scoring their only touchdown of the game on their first drive. The Jackets bounced back by scoring 3 unanswered touchdowns to close out the game. The Jackets won with the final score of 56-6.
Chester was led on offense by Senior Quarterback, Zain Al-Jassim, who threw for 265 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns while tacking on a rushing touchdown. Senior, Kolton Jany, led the Jackets on the ground with 50 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Jany was also the leading receiver with 121 receiving yards. Senior, Devante Palacio, also had a good receiving day with 93 yards and a touchdown.
Junior Linebacker, Ethan Colvis, led the Jackets defensively with 7 tackles and 1 TFL(tackle for loss). Senior, Cayden Brunkhorst, had a very solid day by running back an interception for a touchdown in the first quarter, and adding 3 tackles on top of that.
The Jackets continue their season on Friday, September 13th at Freeburg High School at 7:00 p.m.
