Seven students traveled to Southwestern Illinois College in Granite City on Friday October 4th, to participate in Manufacturing Day. On arrival, all students received a T-shirt and were greeted by Mark Bosworth and several business representatives. They met with 30 different companies such as RBI Red Bud Industries, Midwest Machining Solutions, and MD&A Turbine that are looking for students to work in machinist trades and Aviation. Most of these careers offer $45 to $50 per hour after training that can be completed in 18 months to two years, many trades need immediate hires due to retirement. They also toured the different shops at Southwestern Illinois College and Progressive Recovery Industry in Dupo. Progressive Recovery Industry is a 40 year old company that recovers solvents and cleans contaminated liquids, helps government agencies with clean up of environmental issues as well as welding and electrical work. This was the 10th year of Manufacturing Day.
