The Chester Yellow Jackets secured their spot into the 2024 football playoffs with another dominant win against the Carlyle Indians with a score of 42-0. The offense started strong and kept up their strength throughout the game. On the first drive of the game, the offense scored quickly with a rushing touchdown by Senior Kolton Jany. The defense then came up big with a 75-yard fumble recovery touchdown by Senior Cayden Brunkhorst.
The Defense had some struggles on the night by letting up a lot of yards and first down but they showed their resiliency by not allowing a score all night and stopping the Indians inside the red zone multiple times. The rest of the night went smoothly for the Jackets’ offense as they scored 35 points in just 31 total offense plays. Eventually leading to a final score of 42-0.
The Jackets were led offensively by a good game from quarterback Zain Al- Jassim the Senior finished the game with 265 yards of passing and 3 touchdowns. Also having a good game was Senior Receiver Devante Palacio who had 3 catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Kolton Jany led the Chester rushing attack with 31 yards and a rushing touchdown.
The defense had many standout players but Devante Palacio had the biggest impact having 12 total tackles, 1 sack, and 4 TFLs (Tackles for a loss). Also having big games were Junior Ethan Colvis with 10 total tackles, and Senior Cayden Brunkhorst who had 7 tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. The Jackets are back in action for the last away game of the regular season against a tough 4-2 Dupo team on Friday, October 11th at 7:00
