The Chester Yellow Jackets have improved their record to 7-0 after a very dominant win at Dupo with the score being 48-14. The offense came out scoring in their first three drives, this started with a 65-yard bomb from Quarter Back Zain Al-Jassim to Wide Reciever Devante Palacio. The second drive was capped off with a 5-yard rush by Justin Hayman as the Jackets marched down the field with a 56-yard drive. The third drive was finished by yet another Justin Hayman rushing touchdown. The defense played a good game holding Dupo to just 189 yards. The defense was led by Cayden Brunkhorst with 6 total tackles and an interception and Kolton Jany with 4 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. They completely shut down Dupo’s rushing game, Dupo was held to 21 yards on the ground. The first half was an abysmal half for Dupo as they didn’t even threaten the red zone. The second half was a struggle stopping Dupo’s passing game but was halted to a stop after a few defensive adjustments made by the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets proved yet again that they are an extremely strong force and are hard to score on, as this was just the third game that they have given up more than one touchdown (Others being Duquoin 35-27, Freeburg 31-14). The offense was led by Quarterback Zain Al-Jassim who had 141 passing yards, 14 rushing yards, and 3 total touchdowns. Tray Peters had 118 rushing yards on just 8 attempts with his longest being 47 yards. Kolton Jany had 111 rushing yards on 16 attempts with one touchdown. Receiving was led yet again by Devante Palacio who had three receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown. This Chester offense is a major powerhouse in Southern Illinois as they have outscored their opponents 280 to 63.
The next game is at home versus the Red Bud Musketeers for the conference championship, as well as it being Senior Night.

This is the best sports reporting I’ve seen in the Sting since Clayton Andrews was a reporter. Terrific work, Brenden.
