Throughout the month of November, Mrs. Appel’s food class has been working on a Food Truck project. Every group was given the same prompt: “ Create a food truck that would benefit the town you live in.”
Out of the six groups the food trucks that were created were: Meat-O-Licious, Big Dawgs Big Bites, Crazy Potatoes, Easy & Cheesy, Munch Madness, and International Sweets.
On November 21, Mrs. Appels’s foods class all made samples of their “most popular” item to present to Mrs. Appels homeroom. Meat-O-Licious is a food truck that specializes in burgers and wraps. On Thursday they made their “Burger Salad”. Big Dawgs Big Bites are a Korean Corn dog food truck and they presented their “Hot Cheeto Corn Dog”. The Crazy Potatoes food truck is a build your own “fry salad.” The next food truck was Easy & Cheesy. They serve grilled cheese. On presentation day they made their “Sharp Cheddar Grilled Cheese”. The next food truck is the Munch Madness food truck which also makes sandwiches and wraps. They made their “Much Wrap”. The last and final food truck is called “International Sweets”. As the title explains, they make all kinds of international sweets. On that day, they decided to make “Canadian Beaver Tails”.
Throughout 5th hour, all of Appel’s students went around to each tables’ group and were presented with the menu, the business card, the food truck itself, and an elevator pitch explaining their business. All of the students tried and scored the food trucks based on the flavor/taste, presentation, originality/creativity, menu variety, quality of ingredients, customer service, and cleanliness. The businesses were scored out of 100 points.
The scores are added up and the results of the Best Food Truck are: 3rd- Meat-O-Licious, 2nd- International Sweets, and 1st- Crazy Potatoes. Congratulations to the winners, and all of the other groups.
