Through the week of Nov 18th-23rd the Lady Jackets Basketball team played 4 games in the Sparta Invitational Tournament. The tournament was a round robin format with each team playing every other team once. The tournament included Chester, Sparta, Trico, Steeleville, and Red Bud. Chester opened their season playing Red Bud on Monday, November 18th, falling 36-31 Lexie Mott led the scoring with 16 points. They then won their next two games, taking down Steeleville in overtime 76-71, and Sparta 52-44. In the hard-fought game versus Steeleville Lexie Mott broke the school record of points in a Girls Basketball game with 38. Other key contributors were Rylie Conley with 16, Lillian Diskey, Jessie Stumpe, and Marlie Caby each with 6. In the win over Sparta, Rylie Conley led with 18, Jessie Stumpe followed with 13, and Lexie Mott with 12. Finally, Chester took a tough loss to Trico 54-45 to finish the tournament 2-2. Jessie Stumpe led the scoring with 15 points followed by Lexie Mott with 10, Lillian Diskey had 6, and Aubrey Coleman with 5. Following the last game of the tournament the all-tournament team was announced with Jessie Stumpe receiving all-tournament honors and Lexie Mott receiving the Perry Brooks Courage Award marking her as MVP of the tournament.
