Album #1: GNX by Kendrick Lamar
Favorite Song: Squabble Up
Notes: Every Kendrick Lamar album has been a banger, and “GNX” is so exception. I absolutely loved the listening experience I had with this album, as every song on it was phenomenal. If you enjoy hip-hop at all, I definitely recommend giving this album a listen. All of the features on here were amazing, and I especially love how Kendrick’s voice matches with SZA’s and how well they’re able to make music together.
Album #2: Fauxllennium by TV Girl and George Clanton
Favorite Song: Everything Blue
Notes: Going into this album, I knew it wouldn’t be the typical TV Girl album with how short it was, the marketing, and the fact it’s a collab album with George Clanton. That being said, it definitely didn’t reach my expectations. There are only two songs I liked on this album (Everything Blue and Fauxllennium) and the rest were just meh. I think that the reasoning for this is that the two artists didn’t mix well to make an entire album together, and the fact that it’s so short and a handful of the songs are only instrumentals.
Album #3: Aftercare by Nessa Barrett
Favorite Song: Russian Roulette
Notes: This was the album I had the lowest expectations for, but surprisingly it was actually my favorite and the most memorable one. I think the fact that Nessa Barrett isn’t seen as a music artist but instead as a TikTok influencer may have to do with the fact that this album isn’t really talked about, but I enjoyed each and every song on here and it was a huge struggle picking just one favorite. I highly recommend giving this album a listen and supporting Nessa as an upcoming artist. The electric and club style of pop music works insanely well with Nessa’s vocal abilities, which is why I give this a 10 out of 10 review!
