On February 6, there was a girl’s basketball game, which was also the fundraiser night for Coach Mott and the girls Senior Night. The only girl basketball senior is Rylie Conley! She was also the only girls golf senior this year too. Rylie allowed me to ask some short interview questions, just like when she was appreciated on the fall sports Senior Night, but this time we kept the questions basketball related.
Rylie has been playing school basketball since she was in 5th grade, and states that the reason she joined was because she had always enjoyed basketball, and that she would often play at home or during recess. As soon as it was available at school for her to join an actual team, she did so because she knew she would love it!
Rylie’s favorite memory from her basketball career was during her freshman year on a different Senior Night, where they were up against Sparta. The CHS team won 72 to 36, and what made it better is it was a full gym because so many people were there for Senior Night and supporting the girls playing. Rylie says the thing she will miss the most is being apart of a team because, “even if you may not always get along or see things from the same perspective, there are always people there who you know will have your back and cheer you on.” Rylie believes that the most memorable part of her own Senior Night was that so many came to support Coach Mott due to him being ill. It was amazing that so many people came to celebrate him and the team, and the cherry on top was that CHS won the game that night!
Although Rylie may not pursue basketball after high school, she still had a great time during all of her years playing. Rylie will be dearly missed after graduation, as she has made so many good friends here at CHS.
