The Chester Yellow Jackets softball program is sticking with head coach Jeff Mott. They are looking to build on a 13-13 record from last year and a 3rd-place finish in the conference. They have all of their pitchers coming back and a lot of impressive bats as well.
Mott helps coach women’s basketball and softball at CHS. He graduated in 1994 from Chester and continues to help the community through coaching. He should be looking forward to a great season.
The Jackets open up their season at home on March 17th against Du Quoin. It will be a close game and come to the final out with a Yellow Jacket victory of 9-8. Expect a great run in the conference from these girls and a solid season. They have a tough schedule playing a nationally ranked Carterville team and a tough Red Bud team as well.
All of their arms are coming back, this includes Lexie Mott(3.80 ERA) Maggie Caby(10.28 ERA), and Avery Hasemeyer(2.85 ERA). All of these pictures can get the job done out there and with a potent offense led by senior Elaina Lutman should produce well over 8 runs a game and continue to apply pressure to teams in the area. Look for another amazing season from Elaina Lutman, Avery Hasemeyer, Lexi Mott, Camryn Wolff, and Maggie Caby. This lineup is very dangerous especially when runners are on base.
The softball players for this school year are: Camryn Wolf, Maggie Caby, Kourtney House, Macy Bert, Anna Menefee, Avery Hasemeyer, Taylor Korando, Elaina Lutman, Kady Grau, Marlie Caby, Vanessa Greene, Rylee Schemonic, Aubrey Petrowski, and Lexie Mott
