Album #1: Gemini Rights by Steve Lacy
Favorite Song: Helmet
Notes: I absolutely love Steve Lacy’s work, and “Gemini Rights” is no exception. This album is amazing and one of my favorite Lacy albums out there. It’s hard to find an artist that matches Lacy’s style to compare him too, so I think it’s best to just go and listen to his music on your own. He has has a lot of popular songs on Tiktok, some of them even coming from this album, so I 100% recommend giving “Gemini Rights” a complete listen.
Album #2: Sleez by ThxSoMch
Favorite Song: Caroline
Notes: This short EP by ThxSoMch is a quick listen with some music that was very popular on TikTok. I really enjoy Thx’s music, but I definitely want to mention the use of audio-tune in his music, as some songs sound like they’ve been sung by a completely different person. Like I said, I enjoy his music so don’t take that as me trying to tell people to avoid his songs. I think that he’s still finding who he is as an artist, and in a couple years he’ll have his own unique sound and style of alternative music.
Album #3: The Great Milenko by Insane Clown Posse
Favorite Song: Halls Of Illusions
Notes: ICP is known for their Nu Metal music that combines their funky and fun style that reminds you why they’re called the Insane Clown Posse with their wacky themes and carnival inspiration, but if you actually listen to the lyrics you’ll realize they speak up about a lot of serious issues. I think this amazing combination of music is just perfect and it’s why I love listening to them so much. This album was actually what originally got me into their music, thanks to my mom. If you enjoy 90s hip-hop rock music, I definitely recommend their music.
