February 18th was the annual Senior Night for the second semester, where we appreciate the seniors who are all in different activities! One of these activities is cheer, where they had three seniors. They are Kourtney House, Elaina Lutman, and Peyton Cole.
We had the chance to interview Peyton Cole about her experience with cheer. First off, we asked Peyton if she had any advice for anyone wanting to try out for cheer, which in response she said, “Go for it! If you do not succeed the first time, get up and try again. Be confident, make friends, and always smile. If you don’t feel silly doing it, you aren’t doing it right. Give energy and passion! Always be kind, and appreciate the little moments. Also, trust your team. Without trust, what can be done?” We then asked her how she felt about the Cheer Camp, which is where they help younger kids learn how to do cheer and let them perform at a basketball game. Peyton said she enjoyed working with the kids a lot and seeing how well they performed at the game. Peyton states that she always looks forward for Cheer Camp, and actually got to teach the youngest group of kids. Cole explains her feelings and says, “I enjoyed playing games with them, and watching them do what we both love. It is also adorable to see someone look up to you, as cheer is not often a very appreciated sport.” Lastly, we asked her what cheer competition was her favorite. She responded with, “My favorite competition would have to be state, my freshman year. Even though I didn’t have the people I became closest to my senior year, with me, it was still fun to be able to compete somewhere other than a local high school, making many memories along the way.” I absolutely love the responses, Peyton. Thank you so much for your input!
Chester High School as a whole is so proud of you all and wish you the best for your future after graduation!
