The CHS Band and Choir students competed in the state Solo and Ensemble contest, on Saturday, March 8th, in Herrin, Illinois.
The students spent weeks of preparation to do the best they could to earn points toward the state title this year. Chester High School sent a total of 27 entries which were awarded 22 1st (Excellent), 4 2nd (Great), and 1 3rd (Good).
A statement by Mr. Colonel says, “These kids have a TON on their plate, but they decided to challenge themselves to go the extra mile by preparing a solo or ensemble for contest. I’m so proud of their performances, and I’m proud to be part of a department that’s committed to excellence!”
CHS could not be more proud of their students for their dedication to their music.
