“Lady Like” released in 2024 is sort of like a movie and documentary mashed into one, following the story of Rex Wheeler or better known as his drag name, “Lady Camden.” This documentary follows his life from being announced on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” all the way to returning to his everyday life after touring with “Werk The World.”
A little background on Lady Camden, he was born in Camden Town, England, where he fell in love with ballet and dance. In 2010 he made the bold choice to move to Sacramento, California to follow his dreams of being a professional ballet dancer. However slowly he realized he wanted more of his life, and soon found the drag community. Which is where his true story begins.
He competed in season 14 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” where he came in second place to the winner of that season, Willow Pill. While Lady Camden had a great run, this documentary went through all the dirty and bad stuff that audiences don’t see from the show.
Now as a huge Drag Race fan, and a real fan of Lady Camden, I was really excited to finally get my hands on this documentary. I had high expectations for it after hearing such good things, and it did not disappoint. The documentary had highs and lows, introduced so much story behind Drag Race, and different emotions that really touched my heart. There were times where I was smiling out of joy, and moments where I was in tears realizing that he felt that way.
All in all, the documentary was truly incredible, I rate it a 10/10, and truly recommend it for anyone who wants to know more about the Drag Race community, or just simply needs something interesting to watch.
