Chester High School has installed new signs around the school to enhance the school’s visibility, safety, and architectural beauty. With all these changes, Principal Jeremy Blechle stated that the updates promote school spirit and community pride. They also include directional signage across the campus to aid navigation, especially for first-time visitors.
The most noticeable sign is a large, illuminated Yellow Jacket mascot on the elevator shaft near the football field. Next to it are bright orange “C-H-S” letters and vertical “Yellow Jackets” text. The front of the school now displays a bold new Chester “J” logo and school name, signifying pride in the building’s identity.
The next sign outside of the school is a new branding logo on the left of the main entrance, visible from Swanwick Street. The branding includes a Chester “J” logo with “CHESTER” and “High School” written underneath. Now, under all of that, there is also “CUSD 139,” which stands for Chester Unit School District.

Following the new logo, you will also see 9 new directional signs all over the campus. These were placed in locations where visitors would typically get lost. So now, if someone comes to visit our school, they can know where everything is without looking like a fool. The signs can direct people to the main entrance, track and football field, gymnasium, and outdoor basketball courts.
Now, as you pass the school, you will instantly notice big wind barriers on the outdoor basketball courts. Not only were the wind barriers added, but the school also updated a lot of the equipment out there, including upgrading lights, smoothing rough surfaces, painting equipment, and more.

The next thing, not only impacts visitors but also students, and faculty, as well, is the movement of the main entrance. Once in front, it has now moved to the west side of the school , closer to the football field. Updated with a handicapped accessible entrance, it was formerly known as the side entrance to Juergen’s gym. Well, the next entrance was just opened to use; it has been an ongoing project for at least a year, if not longer.
Another thing, which is not completely new this year, is electric display screens all over the outside and inside of CHS. These screens are used for displaying information that would be of interest to parents, students, staff, visitors, sports fans, and more. Last year, we saw one being placed outside at the football field and in front of the school. But now, the district has added more screens all over the inside of the school, including the gym and cafeteria. These screens are running all hours of every day. Last year, they even installed two giant cinema boards. While they are mainly used for events and information, they are also used for special presentations and to film the basketball games that are happening inside the gymnasium.

The last change that is happening inside the school is “A-Frame,” which displays upcoming events, reminders, directions, and anything relating to the school or the students should know. These started appearing last year and seemed to be extremely useful to visitors, and the ability to spread information.
