The newest students at Chester High School got a head start on the school year, thanks to the annual Freshman Academy held on August 11. The event welcomed the incoming freshman class, giving them a chance to meet staff, find their way around, and prepare for the exciting year ahead.
The day kicked off with an engaging morning of introductions and informational sessions. Freshmen met with key staff members and attended various breakout sessions that covered essential school information, including a Q&A with the administration, a review of the school’s dress code, and an overview of classroom expectations. A tour of the campus helped students get a feel for their new surroundings.
After a lunch of Domino’s pizza, students participated in a “speed schedule.” This unique activity allowed them to visit each of their classrooms for five minutes, with three-minute passing periods in between. The exercise helped them quickly learn the layout of their daily routes. The afternoon wrapped up with fun, team-building games and a “selfie scavenger hunt” across the campus, before everyone met back in the gym for dismissal.
The Freshman Academy served as a great way for students to ease into their new environment, ensuring they feel prepared and confident when classes officially begin on August 14, 2025.
