Album #1: Don’t Tap The Glass, by Tyler, The Creator
Favorite Song: “Ring Ring Ring”
Notes: When thinking of the perfect dance/techno styled album, Don’t Tap The Glass is exactly what I imagined. This album is perfectly up beat and fun, while still having nice raps and rhythms. This album is so different from Tyler’s last one, Chromakopia, as he got more personal in some of those songs, but here he makes such different stylistic choices that are just perfect. It truly shows how versatile of an artist Tyler, The Creator truly is.
Album #2: Fancy That by PinkPantheress
Favorite Song: “Stars”
Notes: PinkPantheress’s newest mixtape, Fancy That, is so British in the best way imaginable. That’s an odd way of describing it, but it’s so true. I loved all of the songs on here, as PinkPantheress definitely has her own unique style of producing music. This is another fun rap album with some quirky pop included into it, and it’s another great album to dance along with. Fancy That is a complete ten out of ten!
Album #3: Don’t Tell The Dog by James Marriott
Favorite Song: “Pillow Fight”
Notes: This is my absolute favorite album, not just on this list, but overall! I adore this album, and so many of the subjects that James Marriott touches on. It’s truly so inspirational hearing about his struggles with relationships, loss, substance issues, and the overall fear and realization that you’re constantly aging and aren’t the kid you once were. This means a lot to me as a senior who realized that this time next year will be drastically different from now. And the cherry on top is that this entire album is dedicated to his childhood dog that has passed away, a pain that the majority of us can relate to. If you choose to listen to any of these albums, this is the one I recommend the most!
