The CHS Poem of the Month challenge is back again for the 2025-26 school year!
Students, staff, and alumni are all invited to enter one original poem each month. Themes are selected by the CHS Writers’ Circle and will vary from a range of topics. Student judges gather on poem due dates to vote for the winners. Wanna be a judge? Join the club!
The Writers’ Circle meets every Thursday, after school, in Miss Hodge’s classroom. Here they share recent work, give each other feedback, and organize the poetry competition. This year, the Writers’ Circle will also be publishing a collection of the winning poems as a printed booklet.
To enter, poets must write an original poem on or relating to the month’s theme. The theme for September is “TIME.”
We spend our time at school, at work, at home, in bed.. but how much time do we really have? How much time do we waste? How much time do we need? Time is history, time is the past, and time is the future. Time is the four seasons; and there is a time to reap, a time to sow, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. Some things are timeless, while others are timely. What kind of time is on your mind?
