The Chester Yellow Jacket Football Team took the road to take on the Pinckneyville Panthers on Friday, Sept. 5th. Both teams were 1-0 going into the game. Chester came off of a dominating win over East Alton Wood River and Pinckneyville with a 22-6 win over Red Bud.
Chester didn’t skip a beat from week one, dominating both sides of the ball. On offense, Senior Tray Peters threw for 5 touchdowns for a total of 182 passing yards. 5 different receivers contributed to the Yellow Jacket passing game on Friday. Senior Ethan Colvis caught 4 passes for 79 yards and 3 touchdowns, Junior Trey McCartney caught 3 passes for 57 yards and 1 touchdown, and Junior Tashawn Palacio caught 1 pass for 14 yards and 1 touchdown. Junior Alex Blechle also caught 4 passes for 29 yards, and Junior Zane Eggemeyer also connected on a pass for 3 yards. Colvis also contributed 111 rushing yards on 8 attempts with 2 touchdowns, followed by Eggemeyer with 65 yards, Valleroy with 44, Blechle with 39, Peters with 22, Ramirez with 14, Palacio with 12, Keeton with 2, and Conder with 2 and a touchdown. 9 players contributed towards Chester’s impressive 311 rushing yards.
On the other side of the ball, the Jackets held Pinckneyville to just 1 touchdown, coming early in the first quarter. The Yellowjackets were led in tackles by Senior Ethan Colvis with 5 solo tackles, 6 assists, and 1 TFL, Junior Tashawn Palacio had 4 solo, 1 assist, and 1 TFL, and junior Trey McCartney also had 3 solo, 4 assists, 1 sack, and 1 TFL. The Chester defense also forced 4 turnovers. Juniors Kanon Jany and Zane Eggemeyer both had interceptions, and seniors Morgan Miers and Reed Creason recovered fumbles.
