Album #1: You’ll Be Alright, Kid by Alex Warren
Favorite Song: “Getaway Car”
Notes: This was a suggestion from fellow Sting writer, Megan Zimmer! Last year I had actually listened to chapter one of this album, but I haven’t relistened to it since. Now that the entire album is out, and it was recommended to me, I knew this was the perfect time to relisten to it. I was not expecting to find a different experience while listening to this album, but I noticed that it had moved me a lot more emotionally than before. I absolutely loved this album so much and I think it’s just a gorgeous album with amazing lyrics that really tug on the heart strings! This gets a perfect ten out of ten rating from me.
Album #2: private music by Deftones
Favorite Song: “Infinite Source”
Notes: I enjoy Deftones’ music a bit, they’re not my absolute favorite, but I don’t dislike them and some of their songs are in multiple of my playlists. I think the same can be said for this album, as it’s not a favorite of mine, but I did still enjoy it. This is a good album, and I commend them for doing something stylistically different to make it stand out, while still making it sound like an authentic Deftones album. I just don’t think it was an album for me, but I definitely understand why people would enjoy this!
Album #3: Am I Sinking Or Am I Swimming? by late night drive home
Favorite Song: “Stress Relief”
Notes: I had heard two songs off of this EP before, “Stress Relief” and “Nostalgic Love Rock,” so I had high hopes for the remaining three songs left. That being said, I actually did not like them that much. I was actually quite disappointed, and it felt like they didn’t belong together. I definitely want to give late night drive home another chance, as the two mentioned songs are so enjoyable, so I will most likely be reviewing another album of theirs soon!
