NHS, also known as the National Honor Society, is a group of students with a GPA of at least 3.2, active roles in the school and community, and who have demonstrated a strong character.
NHS chapters focus on service, volunteerism, and community-focused projects. Members are expected to be role models and leaders among the student body. The four “pillars” of the NHS are scholarship, character, service, and leadership.
Juniors and Seniors who meet this criteria are invited to apply for membership, and the deadline to apply is on Friday, October 3rd. Students received an email and a letter home that provided a link to the application.
Students who applied to the NHS will receive letters indicating their membership status around the first week of November.
A faculty council of staff members reads applications and reviews feedback from the entire teacher body. The faculty council changes each year and remains anonymous. This group, upon reviewing the applications and teacher feedback, decides which applicants will be formally initiated into the club as members. These protocols are established by the National Honor Society organization.
The induction ceremony will swear in new members on Wednesday, October 12th at 6:00 PM.
