Lady Jackets play Pinckneyville tough

Chester defeated Trico on Senior Night.

The Chester Lady Yellow Jackets lost in the semi-final of Trico Regional with a 45-41 loss to Pinckneyville.

Chester was looking for an upset as the hot shooting of Destiny Williams staked the Lady Jackets to an eight-point lead. Williams made five of seven three-pointers and scored 23 points. Pinckneyville rallied in the fourth quarter for the win.

Josie Kattenbraker scored 11 points, Kendall Williams four, Reese Chandler two and Alyssa Seymour one.

Chester ended the season 18-15.

In the first round of the regiional, Chester posted a 62-30 win over the Lady Pioneers.

Josie Kattenbraker led Chester with 17 points. Destiny Williams scored 15 points, and Kendall Williams and Katie Shinabarger had ten each.

Chester celebrated Senior Night with a 65-36 win over Trico on Jan. 31.

Ironically, the Lady Jackets have no seniors on this year’s squad.

Chester won its third conference game in a row. The Lady Jackets closed regular season play with a conference game Feb. 2 against Vienna. Vienna was 68-57 and Chester finished BDC play with a 3-7 record.
