Jany Takes 6th At State

Chester 2nd In Sectional

State qualifiers for the Chester High School track team are Gage Garniss, Justin Clendenin, Keith Kiner III and Aiden Jany.

The Chester boys’ track team placed second at the Class 1A Sectional May 17 at Nashville.

At state, freshman Aiden Jany placed sixth in the 400, running a time of 50.51. His medal-winning performance earned the team four points.

At sectional, Chester tallied 86 points. Nashville won the title with 102 points.

Four Chester athletes qualified for state.

Aiden Jany qualified in three events. He won the 100 in a time of 11.62 and placed first in the 400 at 51.70. Jany is also going to state in the 200 after taking second in 22.30.

Keith Kiner III also placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 41’11”.

Gage Garniss qualified in both hurdles events after placing second in each one. He ran a time of 16.06 in the 110-meter hurdles and 43.16 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Justin Clendenin qualified for state in the pole vault. He took second at a height of 8 feet.
