Everyone knows about the new phone policy at CHS. The YONDR bags are supported by many, but also disliked by many. CHS started the new phone policy on Friday, Aug. 16.
On Tuesday, Aug. 20, NBC News aired a story on the phone pouches, and how one school in California just started using them. San Mateo High School in Silicon Valley, Calif., was in the middle of the news segment. Like CHS, the YONDR pouches became a new policy this school year. While many students complain about our policy and how we are not allowed to have our phones during passing period, the students at San Mateo High School are not allowed to have their phones at all throughout the school day, including lunch.
One study found the more than 95% of students in high school own a mobile phone. Addictions to screens are becoming a serious problem all across the country; many schools, not just CHS, use YONDR pouches. Many school officials have since commented on on the news story, wanting the pouches to be used in their schools. YONDR provides pouches for over 700 schools across the country. There are upwards of 24,600 public high school in the United States.
