Chester opens its football season Friday by beating Edwards County 18-13.

Dylan Kelkhoff tossed touchdown passes of 10 and 25 yards to Ethan Bert. Jordan Merideth scored on a five-yard touchdown run.

Kelkhoff completed eight of 11 passes for 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Bert caught three passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 47 yards. Aiden Jany led Chester with 57 yards. Ethen Eggemeyer ran for 41 yards and Merideth 35 yards and a TD.

Ian Reith caught two passes for 20 yards.

Chester travels to Eldorado Friday. Eldorado opened play with a 41-7 win over Johnston City.
