Chester Beats Freeburg In Overtime

Jordan Merideth scored two touchdowns against Freeburg.

The Chester Yellow Jackets posted a 40-34 overtime win over Freeburg Sept. 10 to improve to 2-1.
A 26-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Stumpe to Isaac Jany and an 80-yard interception return by Freddie Alvarez helped Chester build a 14-0 halftime lead.
After Freeburg cut the lead to 14-12, Jordan Meredith returned a kick-off 87 yards for a TD. Freeburg tied the game 20-20 after three quarters, but Stumpe hit Meredith on a 59-yard TD pass to give the Jackets a 27-20 lead in the fourth quarter. Freeburg tied the game, forcing overtime.
Stumpe connected with Cooper Eggemeyer for an 11-yard TD pass in overtime, but Freeburg tied the game.
Alvarez scored the winning TD on a five-yard run.
Freeburg outgained Chester 417-214, but the Jackets’ defense registered four interceptions.
Stumpe threw for 193 yards and a TD.
Meredith had five catches for 86 yards and a TD. He also had 5.5 tackles and an interception.
Isaac Jany had three catches for 66 yards and a TD.
Jacob Cowell registered 13 tackles, including two tackles for losses.
