Alas, I am a Fool
December 16, 2021
For years you’ve ate the fruits of life,
and left me with the rind.
My vengeance will be rampant,
my sympathy will be blind.
You’ve damaged me beyond repair.
My tears have all gone dry.
I give you all my kindness,
yet all you do is lie.
I played into your wretched hands,
helped in your social gain.
Now my hatred burns for you,
grown from years of pain.
As I go to strike you down,
I look into your eyes.
I see the initial joy you gave me.
My anger rapidly dies.
I turn and start to leave.
I feel a sharp attack.
Lord, I’m just so foolish,
you’ve stabbed me in the back.
