The Chester Yellow Jackets followed up a blow-out victory over Trico Feb. 12 with a 59-56 Valentine’s Day victory over Red Bud on Feb. 14.

Chance Mott led Chester with 19 points. Jared Landeros was also in double figures with 11 points. Trace Fricke and Devante Palacio notched six points each. Cooper Eggemeyer contributed four points and Lucas Thompson three.

Despite Chester’s win over Red Bud, the Musketeers enter the Du Quoin Regional with a better seed and will host Chester in the first game of the regional. The 12th-seeded Yellow Jackets play at 2 p.m. on Feb. 19 against 11th-seeded Red Bud at Red Bud.

The winner will face Nashville, the 2 seed, at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Du Quoin.

Chester’s Valentine’s Day Massacre was delivered two days earlier with a 60-29 thrashing of Trico.

Eggemeyer was high scorer with 15 points and Landeros added 12. Fricke and Mott tallied nine points each, Jacob Handel scored seven points, Aiden Jany six and Ethan Stumpe two.
