Chester Loses Home Opener To Benton

The Chester Yellow Jacket football team lost to Benton 54-6 on Friday, September 2, at Chester. The quarterback Zain Al-Jassim threw 9 passes and completed 2 for 9 yards, Kolton Jany had five carries for a total of 27 rushing yards and scored Chester’s first touchdown of the season on a 25-yard run. Chester drew within a point at 7-6 after the second quarter score, but Benton dominated the remainder of the game.
Devante Palacio had 2 carries for 17 rushing yards and had 1 reception for 10 yards. The defense had a sack from Garret Hopkins and an interception from Kolton Jany but they couldn’t keep that up for the whole game. Will Schuwerk had 4 solo tackles and 9 total tackles, Gage Hopkins had 3 tackles and 6 total tackles, and Kolton Jany had 2 tackles and 1 interception.
