Jerry Kill, athletic director at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), spoke to Chester High School juniors and seniors Tuesday to discuss the attributes of SIUC.

Coach Kill led the Salukis to five football playoff appearances, including an appearance in the championship game. He coached Northern Illinois to a national ranking and led Minnesota to a bowl appearance before health issues sidelined him. He became athletic director at SIUC last spring.

Coach Kill spoke about SIUC’s proximity and safety and also praised its academic offerings. He said SIUC will be opening a college of nursing in the near future.
