Jackets Finish 12th In Thomas Classic

The Chester Yellow Jacket Boys’ Basketball Team competed in the annual battle of the border between Illinois and Missouri on Saturday, December 17th. The Chester Boys played against Valle Catholic. Chester lost 38-35 after a game-winning three-pointer from Valle. Gavin Schroeder led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 8 points.
Devante Palacio scored seven points, Kolton Jany Six points, Chance Mott five points, Trace Fricke five points and Evan Bland four points.
The Chester Yellow Jackets began Christmas break with a 58-40 loss at Sparta on Dec. 20.
Sparta opened the game with 19 straight points and the Jackets could not recover.
Gavin Schroeder and Chance Mott led Chester with ten points each. Cayden Brunkhorst scored nine points and Devante Palacio four. Trace Fricke, Jacob Handel and Kolton Jany tallied two points each. Evan Bland scored one point.
Chester (1-3, 6-11) went 1-3 in the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic in Pinckneyville.
Chester opened with a 58-52 loss to Jerseyville on Dec. 27.
Schroeder had four three-pointers and finished with 18 points. Thompson scored nine points on three three-pointers. Mott and Jany netted eight points each. Palacio scored five points and Fricke three.
Chester bounced back with a 55-44 win over Woodlawn on Dec. 28. In their second game of the day, the Jackets were edged by Salem 34-30.
Chester lost to Roxana 51-47 in the 11th-place game on Dec. 29.
Schroeder scored 15 points with five three-pointers in the first half. Mott also scored 15 points, all in the second half. Palacio netted 13 points and Bland four.
