The Chester Yellow Jackets Boys Basketball team moved to third in conference after a 48-38 win against Sparta on Friday, Feb. 10.
Chester started off the game hot and gained an early lead. The Jackets played great defense and offense helping them maintain their lead through the game, giving them a 48-38 win. Sparta averages 61 points per game, but the Jackets defense held them to just 38. Sparta’s leading scorer averages 19.5 points a game but some great defense by Kolton Jany only allowed him 6. On the offensive side, Gavin Schroeder led the Jackets in scoring with 16 points, followed by Chance Mott with 12, Devante Polacio with 9, Trace Fricke with 6, Lucas Thompson with 3, and Kolton Jany with 2.
The Chester Boys played again on Saturday, Feb. 11, against Fairfield High School. It was a back-and-forth game between both teams, but Fairfield closed it out and Chester lost 38-35. Gavin Schroeder led the Jackets in scoring with 10, followed by Chance Mott with 8, Kolton Jany with 8, Devante Polacio with 6, and Trace Fricke with 3.
