The Sting visited the SIU campus in Carbondale to participate in their annual SISPA convention On Wednesday, February 28 t. The members who attended were Hayden Cartwright, Ella Jackson, Wyatt Prater, Bethany Baughman, Isaiah Roth, Josalynn Anaya, Lexi Eggemeyer, Annah Helvey Ahring, Isabel Smith, Hannah Hoskin, Haley Hoskin, Aden McFarland, Elizabeth Wilson, Liam Holland, Camryn Luthy, Hannah Stueve, Kaylie Springston, Chelse Mathis, Kiara Mathis, and Cheslli Cumberland. They were accompanied by Mrs. Hoskin and Ms. Hodge.

While at SIUC they were able to do many fun activities such as competing in on-site competitions, taking a bus tour of SIUC’s journalism department, going bowling, playing pool, taking different classes, and more.
Before the Sting members left to head back to CHS, there was an award ceremony for both the on-site competitions and pre-made stories for separate categories. The advisors were able to send in stories for the SISPA judges to look at. This allowed Lexi Davis to win second place for “Best Web News Story,” Elizabeth Wilson to win third place for “Best Video Story,” and the overall Sting staff to win third place for “Best Homepage Design.”
