Album #1: Seven + Mary by Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Favorite Song: First Class
Notes: This was a suggestion from my friend, Ryker. I have heard of RKS before and knew a handful of their songs, but this is the first time I have listened to a full album of theirs. I really enjoyed this album and the folk/indie sound it has. I liked “First Class” the most just because of the way it’s sung and the nice lyrics it possesses.
Album #2: The Underground Sound by Joey Valence & Brae
Favorite Song: Crank It Up
Notes: This was a last minute addition to the list, as this is a short EP and the album I previously had in this spot was so bad I couldn’t finish it (The album was “…Because I’m Young Arrogant And Hate Everything You Stand For” by Machine Girl, in case you were wondering.) So I chose a nice and simple EP that I already knew I would love. I likes practically all of the songs on here, but I chose “Crank It Up” specifically because it was one of the first songs I ever heard from JV&B.
Album #3: Apollo XXI by Steve Lacy
Favorite Song: Playground
Notes: I absolutely loved this album, and it’s honestly my favorite Steve Lacy album out there. I loved the fun upbeat psychedelic vibe this album has, and the album art is so fun. The funky feeling this album radiates is just great, and “Playground” really shows off that feeling with how Steve Lacy sings it.
