The Yellow Jackets wrapped up play in the 12th annual Duster Thomas Hoops Classic last Saturday at Pinckneyville with a pair of wins in the consolation bracket.

In a consolation semifinal Saturday morning, the Jackets beat Wesclin 56-32 to advance to the consolation final where they beat Union County (Ky.) 56-48.

On Friday, Keith Kiner III, Drake Bollman and Ian Reith combined for 45 points to lead Chester past the Elverado Falcons 53-48 in a consolation quarterfinal round match up.

Keith Kiner III was voted to the All Tournament Team.

Chester went 3-1 in the Duster Thomas Classic.

The Yellow Jackets went into the consolation bracket after a heart-breaking 43-42 loss to Salem on Dec. 27. Colin Wingerter led Chester with 12 points. Kiner scored ten, but was unable to convert on a controversial no-call as time was running down.

Chester went into the Christmas break with a 65-28 win over Zeigler-Royalton Dec. 21.

The win improved the Yellow Jackets to 4-0 in conference play. Tornadoes had transportation issues and arrived late, forcing the cancellation of the JV game. The trip home was even worse after Chester jumped out to a 25-1 first quarter lead.

Chester lost to Pinckneyville 47-35 on Dec. 22.

Ian Reith led Chester with 20 points. Keith Kiner III tallied eight points and Drake Bollman seven.
