The Yellow Jackets improve to 5-0 after a 20-0 win on the road over Wesclin. The weather was the biggest story of the game as the game took place while Hurricane Helene was coming through the area. Due to the weather Chester’s offense struggled but where the offense came up short the defense more than made up for it.
Chester’s defense forced 4 turnovers all being fumbles and letting up only 74 total yards of offense. They only allowed Wesclin’s offense to get two first downs the entire game. Chester’s offense took advantage of the fumbles and scored two of their touchdowns coming off turnovers. Eventually leading to the final score of 20-0.
On offense Senior running back Kolton Jany had most of the production with 127 yards and a touchdown for the Jackets. Due to the weather the passing game struggled with only one completed pass for 14 yards but Senior Quarterback Zain Al-Jassim had a good game on the ground with two touchdown runs and 21 yards.
There were a lot of Yellow Jackets that had great defensive nights but Junior Ethan Colvis had the biggest impact with 9 tackles 3 TFLs (Tackle for loss) 2 forced fumbles and a sack on the night. Also having big nights were Senior Nate Maes with 5 tackles and a sack that also caused a fumble, and Senior Kolton Jany who had 4 tackles 2 TFLs and 2 sacks. The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday October 4th against Carlyle for a chance to clinch a spot in the class 2A playoffs.
